The guy with the beard is the editor of the local sheet and 1965 graduate of Alexandria's Jefferson High School. The fire raging in the background that doesn't seem to concern anyone? Well, the easiest way to take down a building back then was to ask the volunteer fire department to have a training exercise. (Notice the package of weiners in the editor's left hand.)
