60th Birthday Party for an Old Alexandria Cardinal

Tom Ryding was one of the Trailboss's favorite Cardinals. He was a power forward for Tom Connor's red men when Jimmy Jahr played at center. They played the first game ever at the new gymnasium at the new school called Jefferson High, and won it in overtime, I think. Tom's sister, Ruth, is in our class, of course. Two years ago the family surprised Tom with a 60th birthday party and here's the shot. The big guy is Tom of course, but here's Ruth's description, "from left: Me, my son, Mikael, Tom, his three daughters and two of their husbands, and Tom’s wife, Lynn, in front. See you all on the 6th. Ruth Ryding Yamaguchi" -- Hey Ruth, just how big IS that family of yours? Some of the partygoers in the photo above are wearing nametags! Speaking of nametags, we'll accept Lynne Spellman Lommen's kind offer of making them up for the reunion, with or without Betty Larson Butcher and Tom Watson's help. Personal to Lynne -- check the attendees list on the blog as Karen Schjei Benson reports them in -- right now there are 88 -- and make up the nametags as you go. Get the photos from the Alexian. If you have questions, email trailboss@swpub.com Thanks so much, we'll present you with SOMETHING nice at the Roundup. -- Trailboss
