Rock and Roll Roundup at The Corral Aug. 6

The 65Roundup Entertainment Impresario John Herdan has reported securing the services of Rick Beresford, his band of sons, and many others to jam the evening of Aug. 6. The proposed playlist includes "Blue Suede Shoes" (Carl Perkins/Elvis); "The Midnight Hour" (Wilson Pickett) and "Runaway" (Del Shannon). Rick, pictured above left with Dave Erickson this Spring, says "Chubby Checker came back to Taste of Minnesota to sing 'The Twist'. Will we see Mike Geiser return to the stage to sing 'Peppermint Twist'? Will Karen Schjei Benson sing 'I Left My Heart in ... Mason City'?"
Meanwhile, Herdan says the evening's entertainment is beginning to shape up. No word yet on poetry from Paul Strandberg. Older classmates who don't like loud music or rock and roll anymore should take comfort in the fact that there will be plenty of time left to visit, the loud music won't last forever, and you can always go to the bar or go outside for a smoke. Let the fun begin Aug. 6. Don't have a ticket? You snooze, you lose. See Karen.
