Cardiac Cardinals come close
The Cardiac Cards tried to play catch up for the fifth time in five games at our homecoming outing last night, but fell to the Moorhead Spuds, 31-28.
Against the always powerful Moorhead Potatoes (as the little kids behind us called them), the Cards trailed 24 - 7 at the half, and looked really bad doing it.
The Cards received the second half kickoff and proceeded down the field in short order to close the gap to 24 - 14.
After holding the Spuds, the Cards got the ball and amazingly scored again to close the gap to three points. The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the 4th quarter. The Cards unsuccessfully tried an on-side kick after their last TD but subsequently stuffed the Spuds on 4th and less than one.
The Cards had to go about 80 yards in less than 2 minutes - a couple of penalties put our guys in too deep a hole to overcome.
