Michael Berglund
Michael Berglund, 66, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on August 23, 2011. He was born in Alexandria to Joe and Tibby Berglund.
After high school graduation, Mike joined the Navy and served in Vietnam in a naval air squadron. He then graduated from ASU with a chemistry degree and worked for Motorola and Teledyne (CA). Upon returning to Arizona, he entered the retail nursery business.
With his hard work and dedication, he built Desert Winds Nursery into successful businesses. Mike’s list of friends and colleagues grew through his involvement with Executives Association of Greater Phoenix. (E.A.G.P.), the Phoenician committee (Phoenix Chamber of Commerce) and the Phoenix Aviation advisory board. His love of aviation inspired him to obtain a commercial and private pilot’s license. His other hobbies included golf, fishing and traveling.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Angela; his daughter, Laura and grandson, Joshua; also, sister, Shelly Moore and husband, Lee Sr., and her children, Lee Moore Jr., Brianna Gallelli and husband Neil; brother, Brian Berglund and wife Rosemary and their sons, Jonas, Steve, Michael, Mark and Trey.
Mike touched many people’s lives with his courage, strength and generosity and love. He will be greatly missed by all those who have been blessed by knowing him.
A Celebration Service for Mike was held Monday, August 29 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 East Thomas Road, Phoenix. Burial followed at St. Frances Cemetery, 2033 North 48th Street, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Theresa Perpetual Fund (students), 5045 E. Thomas Rd, Phoenix AZ 85018. Arrangements are with Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd, Scottsdale AZ.
