Our classmate, Richard Steinmetz

We were saddened to receive this note from Robert Steinmetz today.

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA - Richard H. Steinmetz passed away December 6, 2011 in Gainesville, Florida. 
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska he grew up in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Nebraska. After service in the U.S. Army he pursued graduate studies in photography, his life long passion, earning a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Florida. 
Until his retirement in 2010 he was a teacher at Gainesville High School and on the faculty at the University of Florida School of Architecture where he taught photography and digital imaging coursework and ran photography workshops at the Preservation Institute: Nantucket Summer Field School in Historic Preservation. 
Survivors include his twin brother Robert H. Steinmetz and wife Mary, Overland Park, Kansas, sister Shayne Graves and husband Steve, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota and two nephews Todd & Casey Steinmetz of Lenexa, Kansas along with their families. 
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. January 10, 2012 at United Church of Gainesville. 1624 NW 5th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32603. Donations in honor of Mr. Steinmetz may be made to: Doctors without Borders or Haven Hospice.
