Regrets not graduating at JHS

Larry Sass never forgot Alex roots
Jerry Deleski writes:
Stan: I saw your note on the Larry Sass Scholars Fund.
Even though the title would qualify as an oxymoron, the importance of the remembrance of a lost classmate is significant.
Larry lived next door to me on South Broadway prior to his move to Excelsior and Minnetonka high school. We played a lot of baseball, wiffleball and various other mini competitions. Larry and I also worked at the carnivals together one summer.
After Larry moved I lost touch with him and only saw him one time in the past 40 years.
I went to Larry's wake and spoke to his mother, his wife and his brother Randy (Little Carrots).
Each of them related the same theme to me. That is: Larry never got over the fact that he did not graduate with all of us from the Class of '65 and Alex high school.

Affected him greatly
His mother said she regrets to this day that she did not allow Larry to stay in Alex and graduate with us.
His wife said Larry never verbalized what it meant to him, but she could tell it affected him greatly.
Brother Randy told me that whenever Larry's Minnentonka class would have a reunion. Larry would hop on his motorcycle and drive to Alex. Spending the day just driving around the town.
I felt pretty empty after hearing that. Knowing that I never made an effort to include Larry in our functions with classmates.
I'm wondering if we have other classmates that have been overlooked.
Count me in for $25 and let me know where to send the check. JD
