The Douglas County Fair set an all-time record for attendance of 26,079 and for gate/parking proceeds of $13,868. There were 1,567 4-H entries. Donald Wilke won the grand champion all-breed award for his 2-year old Holstein heifer and the Minnesota Valley Breeders plaque for outstanding dairy achievement. Lenore Sletto of Moe 4-H received the coveted Thornton Trophy.(from class archivist John Herdan, who includes congratulations to classmate Don -- 50 years after the event.)
