Members of "The Greatest Generation"

Cub Reporter Tom Obert writes:
Tom Kiehne was in town from Texas last weekend for his annual visit to mom and dad. This is always a nice opportunity for our folks to get together. Our parents, probably like most others in our class, raised four kids (or more) in 2 - 3 bedroom houses with one bathroom - how they did that is incomprehensible to me.
Since most of us have probably lost parents, and while it's always great to see pix of the grandkids, I thought it might be a good idea to present some representatives of the "Greatest Generation": above are Tommy Obert, and Merrill and June Kiehne.

In other news from Lake Wobegon, now that school has started and summer has unofficially ended, the cub reporter, from the deafening din of almost no one, must swing back into action covering our Cardinals.
The football team started the season with two come-from-behind victories. The second win was the home opener - but since the cub reporter was obliged to attend the opening of the Grape Stomp that night, he sent a proxy reporter in his stead.
Said representative subsequently reported that it was one of the two or three best football games he had seen in his entire life! Our Cards scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the game to pull out a 33 - 30 win over Rocori (which has a projected Division 1 sophomore fullback on their roster). Unfortunately, we subsequently lost badly at Sartell (McPhee!!) the following weekend - fortunately, our sophomore team waxed the Sabre sophomores equally as bad.
We have upcoming home games the next two weeks against Willmar and homecoming against Moorhead - weather permitting, this reporter will be on hand. Posted by Picasa
