Today the Cards hosted the 2008 Runestone Classic Volleyball Invitational. It went on all day. The Cards dispatched Bemidji, Wayzata, and Wadena/Deer Creek in their round robin.
In the other pool, 4th-ranked Chaska disposed of Moorhead, Renville County West, and Perham in their round robin. So at approximately 4:30, 7 1/2 hours after it all began, our Cards took on the Hawks in the championship game. The game had a state final atmosphere - tension, excitement, and high quality play. Our Cards prevailed 26-24, 21-25, 15-10.
The video was taken in the Bemidji game and shows a service run by Sam Dale.
On Sam's 2nd serve, the Lumberjacks get stuffed by two Cardinals - for you old Alexandrians, the one on the right is 5'10" sophomore Sam Trumm (yes, the granddaughter). Gettin' excited about state tournament time, you betcha!
