Things to do this week in Alexandria
(Cub reporter Tom Obert has compiled a handy list of things going on around Alex during the week of our reunion to help with your planning. Thanks, Tom. -- Trailboss)
1) We have the largest winery in the state - Carlos Creek Winery
(http://www.carloscreekwinery.com/). I would highly recommend it as a place for folks to meet on Friday and/or Sunday afternoon to listen to the stirring renditions of Dennis Murphy (free live music) while enjoying a taste of the grape.
2) Theatre L'Homme Dieu (http://www.tlhd.org/) - the longest running summer theater in the state (began in 1961, the year before we all matriculated to Big Jeff) - is bigger and better than ever. From July 26 thru August 6, it will feature "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," Tuesdays thru Saturdays @ 7:30.
3) The Alexandria Beetles baseball team (http://www.alexandriabeetles.com/) of the Northwoods League (college guys) will be in town that whole week - 7:30 games at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
4) The Resorters golf tournament is that week. This year marks the 90th year of the Alexandria Golf Club.
5) For those on extended visits, Art in the Park (at City Park) is the weekend before the reunion and the Festival of the Lakes begins the weekend after.6) And for the young at heart, skinny-dipping still takes place at the north end of Lake Burgen. (Actually, Youngheart Tom has only heard rumors of this.)
