Pass the hat for Tom's telephoto lens fund. . .

Cub reporter Tom Obert recently turned in this piece of work, purported to be a picture of an eagle, taken on the majestic shoreline overlooking Lake Darling. The photograph, presumptuously labeled "Our Nation's Symbol," was taken from the deck, we are told, as Tom apparently is without galoshes for stalking prey. (Tip: Bloggers with fuzzy monitors should focus their attention at the approximate dead center of their screens for the best chance of glimpsing the image. Closing one eye and squinting with the other has also yielded some result.) Naturalists tell us that sightings of turkey vultures are common this time of year, but a precise telling of the species captured in the cub reporter's digital camera is impossible at this time. Readers are invited to speculate as to exactly what Tom has turned in to us today. Posted by Picasa
